| Dachshunds are well known by their design. The long slender back. Unfortunately, this makes them more prone to back injuries. We suggest that you do not let your dachshund go up stairs. If it is necessary then do not let them go up a flight of stairs. Pick them up and carry them. That will give you a good reason to get a great big hug from them. If you dog loves to sleep with you, put a ramp at the end of the bed. This gives them an easy access to the bed without putting stress on their back but also gives them a place to stretch out. Our Peanut will stretch down her ramp every morning when she gets up. |
