Items that can be harmful to your dog:

You would be surprised by what a certain plant can do to your puppy.  Check out
this list and make sure you are prepared.
HAZARDOUS PLANTS.

We all know that people food is not good for our dogs.  We all will sometimes
share our food with our dog.  Here is a listing of foods that you should think
twice about sharing with your dog.
DANGEROUS FOODS
We all have cleaning supplies laying around the house.  Unfortunately they can
clean but can prove to be dangerous to your dog.
HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS
Over the last couple of years we have done a lot of reading.  We wanted to get
to know the dachshunds as much as possible.  On this page you will find some
information that we wanted to share with you.  This is meant for general
information purposes only.  Enjoy.  Any thing that says acceptable is based upon
AKC website as being allowed as show dogs for this breed.

Dachshunds come in three coat types
long hair , smooth hair, and wire hair.
This page is under construction.  Information is added as we gather them.  Please check back to
see what we have added.
Dachshunds are well known by their design.  The long slender back.
Unfortunately, this makes them more prone to back injuries.  We suggest that
you do not let your dachshund go up stairs.  If it is necessary then do not let
them go up a flight of stairs.  Pick them up and carry them.  That will give you
a good reason to get a great big hug from them.  If you dog loves to sleep with
you, put a ramp at the end of the bed.  This gives them an easy access to the
bed without putting stress on their back but also gives them a place to stretch
out.  Our Peanut will stretch down her ramp every morning when she gets up.
So you are considering
getting a dachshund.

Dachshunds come in various colors/patterns.  Although base color is
immaterial, certain patterns and basic colors predominate.   Two colored
dachshunds include, black, chocolate, wild boar, gray (blue) and fawn
(isabella), each with deep, rich tan or cream markings over the eyes, on the
sides of the jaw and underlip, on the inner edge of the ear, front, breast and
sometimes on the throat, inside and behind the front legs, on the paws and
around the anus, and from there to about one third to one half of the length
of the tail on the underside.

Some popular patterns are
dapple, brindle and sable.

We come across some interesting articles from time to time and will post them on this page.
